We don’t place a lot of stock in Top 10 lists of best products – be it electric shavers, microwave ovens or mattresses – but in the case of the latter there are certain manufacturers that come with a stamp of quality because of their track record of delivering well-made, robust and comfortable mattresses, backed up by warranties, that do last for years and years. The problem with a Top 5 or Top 10 best mattress list is that they are usually highly subjective and may be the opinion of just the web site owner. Most manufacturers like Sealy and Stearns and Foster have refused to cut corners and aim for the area of the market where people will pay a little more for quality, leading to some of the best rated mattresses on the market, backed up with a warranty of 10 years or more.
For innerspring mattresses the traditional manufacturers like KingKoil, Kingsdown, Englander, Simmons, Serta, Jamison and Hypnos have a wealth of experience of advancing the technology to get the most out of springs, even with the stiff competition from foams nowadays. Many people rate these highly because they know exactly what they are getting.
With the buzz about memory foam and latex, many of the traditional manufacturers incorporate these materials into their ranges and you will see many of the best rated mattresses from these makers blending the coils with these newer materials.
If your mind is set on memory foam you will probably take a look at the highly-rated Tempur-pedic range, as this brand is the pioneer that first brought high quality foam mattresses to the US. Despite their top-of-the-range prices they remain sought after because they come with a guarantee that the memory foam actually does what it says it’s going to do, with regards to enveloping the body and regulating the temperature – Tempur-pedic foam remains the best on the market.
